AMBITIONS FOR THE DIGITAL GAMING CENTRE

The Digital Gaming Centre was funded in significant part through Enterprise Ireland’s Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) as well as the company’s own resources. It consists of an ultra-modern 9,500 sq ft building over 2 floors in a super location that will focus on supporting digital gaming and associated tech sectors. In addition to the support for the building, REDF funding is available towards the employment of a Project Manager and other expenditure to boost digital gaming and gamification businesses and technology in Sligo and the wider region.

Strand Campus aims to be one of the leading locations in Ireland for entrepreneurs and businesses involved in development of products and services in the digital gaming and associated tech sectors. Ultimately, the company wishes to deepen cooperation with relevant players such as the Atlantic Technological University, Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Sligo County Council, the Local Enterprise Office, AIM Centre, Sligo Chamber of Commerce, the Northern and Western Regional Assembly, Southwest College, Fermanagh and Tyrone and others to make Sligo a cluster region of international significance in the digital gaming and associated services sectors.

Nestled in the picturesque Village of Strandhill, County Sligo, Strand Campus is operated by Sligo County Enterprise Fund and consisted of a 24,000 square foot Enterprise and Technology workspace. With grant aid of €1.9m towards a €2.5m investment under Enterprise Ireland’s Regional Enterprise Development Fund, we have developed Ireland’s first and best Digital Gaming Centre, a new 9,500 sq ft state of the art workspace specifically designed to meet the requirements of digital gaming enterprises. This new state of the art premises is designed to meet the requirements of present and future tech companies, incorporating features to encourage and stimulate collaboration, innovation and creativity.

We want to develop a cluster of international scale digital gaming and associated tech and support enterprises in the Northwest of Ireland with the Centre at its core. The appointment of an experienced Programme Manager will support client companies and Directors in achieving their ambitions for the Digital Gaming Centre. So too will the project partners who have come together to work with and support Strand Campus in furthering the ambitions of this project. This collaboration has brought together the expertise of Higher Education Institutes, Educators, Funding and Support Agencies, Local and Regional Authorities and the Private Sector.
